Editing Questions within Q-Bank

In Xorro-Q, questions can be created from scratch within activities and then imported into Q-Bank, or questions can be imported to Q-Bank in bulk using a CSV file.  There is no facility for creating new questions in Q-Bank.  However, Q-Bank does have a powerful question editor.  This question editor can perform edits to both the content of the question and its properties.

Which questions can be edited in Q-Bank?

Questions which a facilitator has created (or modified) and then imported into Q-Bank, can all be edited by that facilitator in Q-Bank.  However, facilitators cannot use Q-Bank's question editor to edit questions created by other facilitators and shared in Q-Bank.  Such a question can however be imported from Q-Bank into an activity, edited using the activity editor, and then re-imported from that activity into Q-Bank by the editing facilitator; in this case the editing facilitator will be able to edit the re-imported version of the question in Q-Bank's editor.

Q-Bank's editor is not accessible when the search Scope is set to "Global".  To access the question editor, first ensure that Scope is set either to "Mine" or to "Institution".  Note then, that an "Edit" button is displayed at the right margin of some questions in the Candidate questions list (this is the main panel in Q-Bank listing all questions subjected to the currently selected filtering).  These are questions for which the current facilitator has editing privileges.  Those questions which do not have an "Edit" button displayed have been created by another facilitator.

What can Q-Bank's Question Editor do?

With exception to label questions, Q-Bank's question editor supports very similar functionality to that of the question editor screen in the Activity Editor.  All question content can be adjusted (text, images, feedback text, selection of correct options, tolerances, prefixes & suffixes, hotspot zones etc).  In addition, Q-Bank's question editor enables a question's properties to be changed.  Changes are applied to the question permanently once the "Update" button is pressed.

Setting properties for questions in Q-Bank

Questions are organised in Q-Bank using the properties submitted when the questions are imported.  These properties can later be edited using Q-Bank's question editor. Using the question import process, properties can be chosen and applied to all of the selected questions at once.  The properties available are:

Category: Select up to three categories or sub-categories with which this question is to be associated.   If none of the provided categories suit, select "Others".  Note that you can create your own sub-categories in this list. See: Question Category (in Q-Bank)Adding new categories to your Q-Bank;

Share to:  Select the Scope to which you want to share this question.  If you do not wish it to be shared at all through Q-Bank, select "Mine" (this is the default value).  If you want to share the question with other facilitators in your institution, select "Institution".  If you want to share this question with all Xorro facilitators, select "Global" (See Question Scope in Q-Bank);

Source:  This is an open text field where the question's source or author might be enterred, in case this is helpful for later search purposes;

Tags: Here you should enter any tags which will be useful for searching this question in future. Typically, tags might include an activity name, a course identifier, a topic, learning outcome served by this question, a degree of difficulty, etc.  (see Using tags in Q-Bank).
